Masterminds – review
Based on the true story of one of the biggest bank robberies in American history. An idiot gets trickedby some other idiots into taking all the money from his employers armoured car company.
While you would think that much of the movie is ridiculous exaggeration, turns out it wasn’t, the people really did those things, from buying oversized oil paintings of Elvis to hiring a hitman. There are a few good jokes and it should be mentioned that Kate McKinnon makes use of her limited screen time best, showing that her performance in Ghostbusters wasn’t a one off, she is funny.
The film arrived without much fan fair and it is easy to see why. Not significant enough and true crime enough to be taken seriously, and not enough jokes to be seriously funny, it’s just one of those ‘just meh’ movies. Watched once, then forgotten.
